The Carhoots owls work day and night (yes day!) scouring social networks and other sources on the web to provide you with relevant and helpful content and information in order to help you make a better purchase decision. The owls have developed a special tool that allows them to work in partnership with Facebook, Twitter and YouTube (through API’s) to bring back content created by real people.
As we've previously mentioned, the Carhoots owls work night and day ensuring that they collect social data that is relevant and helpful to you in your quest to find your perfect car. We try to filter all the hoots to display in English but occasionally some slip through the net. If you see hoots in a different language you can drop us a line and we’ll do our very best to make sure they don’t appear again!
Whilst we try to provide the very latest real-time reviews and opinions, we need to moderate hoots carefully to ensure you are getting the most relevant content. Because of this occasionally the very latest hoots can be a few days old.
Carhoots aims to provide you with the most helpful, entertaining and fun experience possible when researching or buying a new car. We also believe in mixing things up and creating a playful environment where no new visit or experience is ever the same as the previous. With this in mind, we’ve built Carhoots so that every time you visit our homepage or carry out a search on a particular make or model, you will see different hoots on the Hootboard, allowing you to go against the 'same old' and embrace the 'excitement of the unknown'. And don’t worry, if you’ve seen a hoot you really like and want to visit again after you’ve finished browsing, we recommend you save them to your own personal Hootboard. You can do this by registering with us or logging in to your existing account.
Easy! Simply login to your existing account or register with us using either your email address or your Facebook/Twitter accounts, carry out a search, hover over the hoot you want to add and click on ‘Save This Hoot’. Your favourite hoots will then appear in the ‘MyHoots’ section in the welcome bar.
Contact a 'Hooter'
Got a question to ask a hooter? You can click ‘View this Hoot to be taken to the original source of the hoot, for example Twitter. As long as you have and/or are signed in to your Twitter account you can use Twitter's own messaging service to send them a direct message or reply to a Tweet. The same works for Facebook and other social networks.
Contact a 'Seller'
Interested in buying a car from one of the sellers on Carhoots? Or simply want to learn more about the car they have for sale? No problem! Follow the steps below:
Carhoots Ads: For ads posted by sellers directly on Carhoots you can simply click on ‘Contact this seller’ at the bottom of the hoot and send them an email directly to their inbox. Don’t worry, we don’t keep copies of any of your correspondence.
Social Network Ads: If you’re interested in an ad posted by a Gumtree, Facebook, Twitter or other social network user, simply click on ‘View this hoot’ and you will be taken to the original ad where you can use the social networks own messaging system to contact the seller directly.
